Host Body
Host Body is one part parlor talk, two parts choreographed absurdity, and a pinch of reality.
A two day installation, made for the City of Newburgh by performance creators Sara Gurevich and Carlye Eckert, invites viewers to an experience that examines public/private decorum and social expectations over one too many cups of tea. Through choreographed and improvised vignettes, conversations between the duo and their guests, and the ritual hosting of a tea party, Eckert & Gurevich explore womanhood, play with societal expectations, and blur the line between performance and “real” life.
The performance installation was part of the 2018 Newburgh OPEN Studios, created, installed, and performed at GRIT Works in Newburgh, NY.
