A choreographic event in response to pedestrian and traffic safety.
X-ING responds to a developing urban area; Inspires dialogue between community and municipality; Aspires to offer insights on present & future approaches to infrastructure, residential safety, and urban planning of pedestrian walkways and enforcement of traffic laws; Observes how our community and neighboring communities to Newburgh view the city and it inhabitants through the usage of its roads and sidewalks.
This event:
-brings awareness to normal pedestrian activity.
-activates the crosswalks.
-utilizes the intersection as a platform for local performers to share a series of short, athletic, & performative passages from the one side of the street to the other during the designated crossing times.
-does not advertently distract drivers or disrupt traffic flow.
-respects all municipal and state laws related to pedestrian use of crosswalks.
-invites community members, city officials, Traffic Advisory Committee members, and any interested parties to be apart of a dialogue on pedestrian & traffic safety.
